Hi, I’m Susan. If you are currently in Florida, I offer telehealth services as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (license #MH25749). Coming soon: in-person therapy on Sanibel.
If you are in Virginia I am still a Resident in Counseling (license #0704015583), working toward my Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) which means I work under Supervision.
I am a proud LGBTQIA+ ally and advocate, a social justice activist, and a member of the recovery community for over six years. Professional communities where I am a member (sometimes active, sometimes passive) include the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Florida Counselors Association (FCA), the Virginia Mental Health Counselors Association (VMHCA), the Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex and Gender-Expansive Identities (SAIGE), GLMA (Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ Equality), the American Humanistic Counselor (AHC), the International Association for Counseling (IAC), and the Association for Spirituality, Ethics, and Religion in Counseling (ASERVIC).
I earned my National Certified Counselor designation in spring of 2024 from the National Board for Certified Counselors. I have also passed the National Certified Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE), a prerequisite for licensure in many states. By 2026, clients will be able to use their insurance benefits when they work with me, whether in VA or FL.
When I’m not working with clients or attending education and networking events for counselors, you can find me spending time with my partner and our adult children, our four dogs and two cats, or relaxing in Sanibel, Florida. The photos you see on this website were all taken (and protected by copyright) by my talented partner.
